Chelsea are in advanced talks with Atletico Madrid over a deal for Alvaro Morata, who is desperate to leave Stamford Bridge.

The Blues have been discussing the possibility of a permanent deal as well as just a loan.

Atleti, where Morata started his career as a schoolboy, will have to let players go before acquiring the Spain international though, which could hold up things.

But Morata wants to return to La Liga having failed to make an impact in English football, scoring just 24 goals following his £58m move from Real Madrid in 2017.

The future of Michy Batshuayi is also uncertain despite having already agreed to join Monaco on loan for the rest of the season.

Chelsea are now hoping to sell Batshuayi, who has cut his season-long loan short from Valencia, for £40m, but Monaco just want him on a temporary basis for now. Everton are interested, but have yet to make a bid.

AC Milan have been lined up as a possibility to help trigger Chelsea’s move for Gonzalo Higuain move, but they want Genoa’s Krzysztof Piatek.
