Chelsea will wear black armbands for their match against Leicester City today in tribute to Willian, whose mother sadly passed away this week.

The Brazilian has been granted compassionate leave after his mother, Maria Jose Borges da Silva, lost her two-and-a-half-year battle with cancer earlier this week.

Willian received the news while making his way back from international duty in his homeland, and subsequently returned to Brazil to attend his mother's funeral.

Speaking on Friday about Willian's omission from his squad to face champions Leicester at Stamford Bridge, Chelsea coach Antonio Conte said: "We are very sad for Willian, our prayers are with him and his family."

In the aftermath of his mother's death, Willian paid tribute to her via a lengthy poem on his Instagam account.

Pedro now replaces Willian in Conte's starting line-up for Chelsea's clash with the Foxes as Eden Hazard starts on the left wing. There is no place for captain John Terry, though, despite the defender recovering from an ankle injury which has kept him sidelined since the 2-2 draw at Swansea City.
