Chelsea target Joe Hart if Thibaut Courtois joins Real Madrid, Arsenal's Jack Wilshere in demand - Tuesday's transfer news and gossip

The future of Joe Hart dominates Tuesday's back pages as clubs draw up January transfer plans ahead of the year's final round of Premier League fixtures.

And as we usher in 2017, the transfer window shutters will be hoisted up once more to signal the start of the annual mid-season player shuffle.

Those at the top of the table will consider it a chance to build a squad capable of maintaining a title challenge, while clubs flirting with the top flight trap door will look for quality to steer them away from the drop zone.

Chelsea will make England goalkeeper Joe Hart their number one target if they lose Thibaut Courtois to Real Madrid next summer, according to the Daily Express.

Zinedine Zidane is keen on Courtois after Real had their tw0-window transfer ban reduced to one and will reportedly look to sign him at the end of the season.

Hart has been placed at the top of Chelsea's list should they lose the Belgium international.

Meanwhile, West Ham are preparing for a tug-of-war with former manager Sam Allardyce as they look to Jermain Defoe to bolster their frontline, according to The Sun.

The Mirror report that Crystal Palace are also keen on the former England international, but Bilic has put the former West Ham man top of his list as he looks to increase the number of home-grown players at his disposal.

Sunderland, though, are adamant they will not sell the 34-year-old.

Arsenal could face a battle to keep hold of Jack Wilshere, accoring to Calciomercato.

They claim both AC Milan and Roma have revived their interest in the England international, who is on loan at Bournemouth, and hope his contract situation will play into their hands during negotaitions.

Both hope to secure a permanent deal with less than 18 months remaining on Wilshere's deal.

And finally, The Sun report that Charlton have agreed a £10m deal for Ademola Lookman, beating off competition from Liverpool and Arsenal.

Ronald Koeman will now try to add frozen out West Brom striker Saido Berahino to his squad.
