Chelsea have 'fire and hunger' to beat Manchester United in FA Cup Final, warns Cesc Fabregas

Cesc Fabregas says the Chelsea players have the "fire and hunger" within the squad to end the season on a high by beating Manchester United in the FA Cup Final on Saturday.

Antonio Conte's men finished what has been a disappointing Premier League campaign with a 3-0 loss away to Newcastle on Sunday, which confirmed Chelsea's place in the Europa League for next season.

Chelsea can still end with a trophy, however, when they take on Jose Mourinho's United side in the FA Cup final at Wembley this weekend.

Fabregas admits the Chelsea players still feel down about the way their Premier League campaign ended, but insisted the team will pick themselves back up because the motivation to win trophies remains in the camp.

When asked about the mood in the Chelsea dressing room, Fabregas told Standard Sport: "Well, it is not easy after how we ended the season on Sunday on a very negative day but, listen, there’s no other way than to pick ourselves up.

"Today is maybe a quiet day because everyone is a bit down, but we have to pick ourselves up, stand up and focus on Saturday to try to win this one especially for the fans.

"When you play the cup final, you can win a treble, but you still want to win in everything. It is about the passion you have inside, if you don’t have it, you don’t have it.

"But I think if you really want to win and they are telling you that you are playing a cup final on the last day of the season against Manchester United at Wembley, you don’t need someone to tell you 'we are playing this game'.

"It is inside each one of us, this fire and hunger to go and beat them. We want to get the cup for the fans and ourselves."

Chelsea lost last season's FA Cup Final to Arsenal despite coming into the game heavy favourites to triumph because of their Premier League win days earlier.

This term has been very different for Chelsea, however, with the club finishing in fifth place while their opponents on Saturday, United, ended in second.

But Fabregas doesn't believe Mourinho's men are favourites because "anything can happen" in Cup finals.

When asked if the two teams' Premier League form this season means United are favourites to win the FA Cup on Saturday, Fabregas said: "I never believe in these things.

"The cup final is one game and anything can happen, really. Last year everyone was saying Chelsea will win it and we played one of our worst games of last season.

"So anything can happen. We always know it will be a tough game. United and Mourinho prepare finals very very well and I am sure Antonio will do the same."
