Chelsea FC XI vs AC Milan: Starting lineup, confirmed team news, injury latest for Champions League today

Chelsea welcome back Thiago Silva for today’s Champions League clash with AC Milan tonight but have to do without the services of N’Golo Kante.

Kante suffered a setback in his recovery from a hamstring injury in training and he is joined in the treatment room by Hakim Ziyech (illness) and Wesley Fofana (knee).

“We’re just waiting for [Kante’s] reaction from training,” Chelsea boss Graham Potter confirmed on Monday. “It is certainly not ideal so we will have to wait and see the extent of it and go from there.”

Kepa Arrizabalaga continues ahead of Edouard Mendy as Chelsea’s first-choice goalkeeper, while Silva returns after missing the win over Wolves due to recovering from a heavy cold.

Ben Chilwell also returns after being rested, as do Raheem Sterling and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Trevoh Chalobah keeps his place in the starting lineup, but Ruben Loftus-Cheek has to settle for a place on the bench as Jorginho partners Mateo Kovacic in midfield.

Chelsea XI: Kepa; Chalobah, Silva, Koulibaly; James, Jorginho, Kovacic, Chilwell; Mount, Aubameyang, Sterling

Subs: Bettinelli, Mendy, Azpilicueta, Cucurella, Gallagher, Loftus-Cheek, Zakaria, Chukwuemeka, Havertz, Pulisic, Broja
