Chelsea transfer rumours: Alvaro Morata linked with shock return; Jude Bellingham threat; triple deal

Marc Mayo22 August 2022

Chelsea are urgently pushing for more signings after a tricky start to the season.

With just over a week left in the summer transfer market, Thomas Tuchel is keen to bolster almost all areas of his squad with Alvaro Morata the latest name to pop up in their striker hunt.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang remains their top target in attack with Anthony Gordon and Wesley Fofana also wanted.

Jude Bellingham is one player on Chelsea’s long-term agenda but fresh competition for the England midfielder could damage those prospects.

Here is your latest update of Chelsea transfer rumours...

Alvaro Morata

Chelsea’s frustrations in their attempted deal with Barcelona for Aubameyang have led them to considering alternatives, including former striker Morata, according to Sport.

Atletico Madrid reinserted the Spaniard into their squad this summer after the end of his loan spell at Juventus, and he has performed admirably with two goals on his debut versus Getafe.

A fee of only £21million was reportedly enough to land Morata earlier in the window but that now could be raised owing to his fine form.

He said recently: “In the end it's our job and [the speculation is] what comes out in the press. I just want to work, Atletico are one of the best clubs in the world. If there's a transfer market I can't do anything about it, just work, I'm happy here.”

Real Madrid will rival Chelsea and Liverpool for Bellingham after selling Casemiro to Manchester United.

A big race is on to sign the Borussia Dortmund star in 2023 with many expecting this to be his last season in Germany.

Marca report on Los Blancos preparing their offer with plenty of cash in their pocket following the £70m deal with United.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

Chelsea are pushing to take their summer spending to £300m after lodging a new bid for Aubameyang, reports Standard Sport’s Nizaar Kinsella.

The Blues have made an offer of £15m plus Marcos Alonso for Aubameyang, while they remain intent on signing Fofana and Gordon.

Aubameyang has been reluctant to leave Barcelona but Chelsea met his representatives last week in a bid to convince the former Arsenal striker to move to Stamford Bridge.
