Chelsea target Noni Madueke amid Enzo Fernandez talks as two new transfer priorities emerge

Chelsea have identified PSV forward Noni Madueke as a summer transfer target as they plan an overhaul of their forward line for next season.

The Blues have agreed a deal to sign Joao Felix on loan from Atletico Madrid but the Portugal star is only a short-term option to strengthen Graham Potter’s attack until the end of the season.

Chelsea have already agreed a deal worth around £50million to sign RB Leipzig frontman Christopher Nkunku in the summer and are plotting further new forward arrivals.

Madueke has impressed for PSV in Holland since leaving Tottenham in 2018 and Chelsea are considering a move for the 20-year-old, who is an England Under-21 international.

Londoner Madueke quit Spurs aged 16 and has been in a first-team environment since he was 17. He has scored one goal in seven appearances for PSV this season.

Chelsea are also keen on signing a right-back to provide back-up to Reece James and a new midfielder this month.

Felix has agreed to join Chelsea on loan but the 23-year-old has extended his Atletico contract until 2027 and is unlikely to stay at Stamford Bridge beyond this season.

A short-term deal suits Chelsea with Nkunku arriving in the summer. The Blues also expect to have Armando Broja back fit next season from his knee injury.

As well as Madueke, Chelsea are also interested in Borussia Dortmund teenager Youssoufa Moukoko.

Chelsea co-owner Todd Boehly has stepped back from his role as interim sporting director and new appointments Christopher Vivell and Paul Winstanley are in charge of transfers.

The recruitment team at Stamford Bridge has been searching to improve the squad this month, having already signed young striker David Datro Fofana from Molde for £8m and French defender Benoit Badiashile for £33m from Monaco.

Talks over a move for Argentina midfielder Enzo Fernandez are continuing despite Benfica manager Roger Schmidt ruling out a deal. “This question is closed,” Schmidt said yesterday. “He's one of our players. He's happy, training well, he's part of the team.”

Chelsea remain interested Arsenal target Mykhailo Mudryk, who could leave Shakhtar Donetsk.
