How Antonio Conte can help Chelsea sign Kai Havertz quicker

1/16

Chelsea will be hoping former manager Antonio Conte can next week to do them a favour in their pursuit of top transfer target Kai Havertz.

Frank Lampard's summer spending spree is expected to continue with the young German's signature as the manager looks to bolster his attack.

However, the club's attempts to sign Havertz are currently being held up by the delayed Europa League campaign.

Leverkusen have been clear that star forward Havertz will not leave the club until their bid to win the Europa League is over.

Sporting director Rudi Voller told Kicker in July: "It is set in stone [that Havertz will play]. There is no new stance."

Conte's Inter Milan face Havertz's Leverkusen in the Europa League quarter-finals on Monday, with the German outfit beating Rangers on Thursday to reach the last eight of the competition.

Should Inter knock Leverkusen out of Europe early next week, it paves the way for Chelsea to wrap up a deal for Havertz.

So, Chelsea fans will no doubt be cheering on their former manager next week.
