Guus Hiddink is expected to be given a chance to reinforce the Chelsea team during the January window.

With the Blues languishing in 15th - and 11 points off the top four - their chances of reaching the Champions League next season are under serious threat, but Hiddink remains positive.

Chelsea are expected to step up their pursuit of Jamie Vardy following Jose Mourinho's departure. The Portuguese boss wasn't keen on a move for the Premier League's top scorer, but his departure has since paved the way for a swoop.

But one signing will not prove the sole remedy for Hiddink's struggling squad and the hierarchy could reignite their interest in Everton's John Stones. Indeed, the Blues seemingly need to rebuild the first-team spine.
