Adrian says beating Chelsea in the derby in his second game back as first-choice West Ham goalkeeper has been his highlight of the season.

The arrival of England goalkeeper Joe Hart on loan from Manchester City in the summer meant Adrian spent most of the early part of the campaign on the bench.

Hart was ineligible for the match at his parent club Manchester City in December and although West Ham lost 2-1, Adrian impressed.

In the next game the Spaniard helped defeat Chelsea 1-0 and he rates that game, and a 1-0 victory against Tottenham in May, as his stand‑out moments of 2017.

“Our win at home against Spurs was magnificent and also our win against Chelsea in December, as it was just my second appearance after a hard start to this season, when I didn’t play much,” he said.

Adrian has been nominated for the Goalkeeper of the Year prize at the London Football Awards.

Chelsea’s Thibaut Courtois, Watford’s Heurelho Gomes, Spurs’ Hugo Lloris and Brentford’s Daniel Bentley are also in the running with the winner announced on Thursday.
