Atletico Madrid president Enrique Cerezo has conceded that it is highly unlikely that Radamel Falcao will return to the club this summer.

The Colombia international spent last season on loan at Manchester United, but Louis van Gaal has decided against making the deal permanent.

That decision has opened the door to a sensational move to Chelsea, with reports claiming that Falcao is prepared to take a huge pay cut to secure a move to Stamford Bridge.

Jorge Mendes, who represents both Falcao and Blues manager Jose Mourinho, recently confirmed that his client will be playing for a ‘top club’ next season, while Champions League finalists Juventus have also declared their interest in the striker.

Falcao, who wants to stay in the Premier League, confirmed that his future will be decided ‘in the coming weeks’ when quizzed by reporters in the lead-up to Colombia’s clash with Costa Rica this weekend.

That move, according to Cerezo, is unlikely to be Atletico Madrid.

Diego Simeone’s side have been linked with a move for their former star, along with Juventus striker Carlos Tevez, but the Atletico president insists that such talk is simply ‘illusions that the fans can make’.

"The Falcao one and the Tevez one are very difficult,” Cerezo told Radio4G.

"Now they are all illusions that the fans can make, but I think that the team is very good now", the president continued.

"We are going to bring in two or three reinforcements."
