Arsenal vice-captain Laurent Koscielny will undergo a scan later today to determine the extent of the muscle injury he suffered in Wednesday’s 5-1 Champions League humbling at Bayern Munich.

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger confirmed that the French centre-back remained an injury doubt for Monday’s FA Cup tie at Sutton United after picking up the injury early in the second half of their round of 16 first leg defeat in Bavaria.

When Koscielny was replaced by Gabriel the scores were level, Alexis Sanchez having dragged a battling Arsenal back into the tie, but a flurry of goals inspired by the outstanding Thiago Alcantara secured a victory for Bayern that effectively ended the tie.

“We looked quite defensively solid in the first half and lost Koscielny in the second,” Wenger said. “After that we lost a bit our structure and our organisation.

“At 3-1 I felt we were mentally affected and looked much more vulnerable.”

Wenger also confirmed that he intends to play a “normal team” at Gander Green Lane in a bid to avoid an upset against their National League hosts.
