Video footage has emerged of Arsenal supporters appearing to aim abuse at striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in the aftermath of Sunday's eventful Premier League draw against Crystal Palace.

The clip, which began circulating on social media on Tuesday night, seems to show Gunners forward Aubameyang's Lamborghini Aventador stuck in traffic in London as fans vent their frustration.

"£2,000 a year to watch s***. F*** off," one person is heard shouting.

The jibe is repeated before the lights change and Aubameyang is finally able to drive away.

The Gabon international, 30, has been one of Arsenal's top performers this term, scoring eight goals in 12 appearances across all competitions.

Arsenal surrendered a two-goal lead against Palace on Sunday and were controversially denied a late winner in a game that saw captain Granit Xhaka appear to tell home fans to 'f*** off' twice as he removed his shirt and headed straight down the tunnel after his slow walking off the pitch following a second-half substitution led to audible jeers.

Xhaka has been offered counselling by the club to deal with the fall-out from such an ugly episode and is said to be “upset, devastated and sad” as well as shaken up by the sustained level of vitriol he has received on social media.

A decision has yet to be made whether the Swiss midfielder will be stripped of the captaincy, though he will not feature for Arsenal in their Carabao Cup fourth-round tie against Liverpool at Anfield on Wednesday evening.

On Tuesday, Xhaka changed his Instagram profile picture from one showing him wearing the Arsenal armband to another as Switzerland captain.
