Kaylen Hinds has joined up with Arsenal's former academy head Andries Jonker at Wolfsburg in a permanent transfer.

The 19-year-old forward has signed a three-year deal at the Bundesliga side in a deal believed to be worth around £2 million.

Hinds will train with the first-team but is viewed as a "possible prospect", a statement on the Wolfsburg website said.

Though he agreed a new contract at Arsenal in January Hinds struggled to break into Arsene Wenger's first-team and spent the second half of last season on loan with League Two side Stevenage, making only four starts.

Though his departure will not be as keenly felt as that of the highly-regarded Chris Willock, who allowed his contract to run down before joining Benfica, it is another instance of a young player concluding that his development is not best served at Arsenal.

It will be down to club captain Per Mertesacker to arrest that trend when he takes over as academy head at the end of next season, with Luke Hobbs set to remain in place for the time being.
