Arsenal fans cranked up the pressure on Arsene Wenger following the club's 3-0 defeat to Crystal Palace on Monday.

The Gunners' Champions League hopes took another damaging hit as they were swept aside by relegation-threatened Palace at Selhurst Park.

The atmosphere became toxic in the away end as goals from Andros Townsend, Yohan Cabaye and Luka Milivojević secured a 3-0 victory to heap more misery on Wenger.

Banners calling for the Frenchman to step down were displayed by several travelling Arsenal fans, while cries of "Arsene Wenger, we want you to go" rang out from the Arsenal block.

The defeat means Wenger's side look set to miss out on Champions League qualification for the first time in his 20-year reign.

And Arsenal Fan TV regular Lee Judges was one of many to promote an anti-Wenger message, calling on the boss to stand down immediately with the club's season in tatters.

"I think Wenger's got to have a look at himself now, and I think he's got to walk," Hughes said.

"After today, I think he's got to go right now - he's got to walk now. The actual performances are getting worse, the defending in this team is absolutely embarrassing now."

The Arsenal fans were vocal about their discontent after the full-time whistle, spurning the opportunity to applaud the players' effort and some even booed as the team walked over to greet the travelling supporters.

"I've never seen that," added Hughes. "They clapped Oxlade-Chamberlain, but the rest of them starting walking over and they were telling them to go away. I've never seen it as bad as this."
