Olivier Giroud’s agent has confirmed the striker is staying at Arsenal.

Giroud has been linked with a move away from the club, with a possible swap deal involving Napoli star Gonzalo Higuain being mooted.

The 29-year-old, who joined Arsenal from Montpellier for £13m in 2012, has had mixed fortunes during his spell in north London.

Arsenal are looking to buy another forward this summer, but Giroud's representative Michael Manuello claims it is not at his client's expense, especially with Danny Welbeck ruled out until the new year with a knee injury.

Manuello said: "Everything I've read on the Giroud is not true. I personally have only said that if Arsenal want to sell, then we will see.

"I do not know where [the Napoli story] came from. We never talked to Naples and there are no other persons appointed over me that can do this - we need to clarify this.

The forwards Arsenal have scouted ahead of the transfer window

"You always need two strikers and Welbeck is out for (a total of) nine months, unfortunately. But if you play in a great team, it is natural that we could face strong competition."

Giroud impressed at Euro 2016 for France with three goals and is still rated highly by Arsenal coach Arsene Wenger.
