The transfer window is in full swing, and speculation has been spreading over the last few weeks as Premier League clubs weigh up whether to make moves for players in the coming weeks.

Despite many top-flight managers remaining wary of doing business in the winter window, injuries and indeed the open nature of the Premier League race could tempt clubs to bolster their squads this month.

Indeed, injuries to Arsenal's midfield options forced Arsene Wenger to dip into the transfer market this week when he recruited Egyptian midfielder Mohamed Elneny from Basel in a £7million deal on Thursday.

The Frenchman did not rule out making further signings in January although the Gunners boss insisted on Friday he would prefer to wait for stars such as Danny Welbeck to return from injury rather than buy any more players now.

And it has been claimed this morning that Wenger will recruit further this summer - with Southampton's Victor Wanyama the Arsenal manager's No.1 target for a new midfielder while Borussia Dortmund forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Watford striker Odion Ighalo are on his wishlist up front.
