Turkish side Antalyaspor are attempting to sign Jack Wilshere but fear being priced out of a move by Arsenal, their club president has confirmed.

Wilshere's prospects at the Emirates look bleak with little progress on a contract extension, with his current terms due to expire at the end of the season.

The 25-year-old spent last season on loan at Bournemouth but the south coast side opted not to make a permanent move for Wilshere, who suffered a season-ending fibula injury in April.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has insisted he has faith in Wilshere but having said he would offer him new terms at the start of 2017 it is indicative that the midfielder is as yet no nearer to an extension.

Italian side Sampdoria have been linked with a move but Antalyaspor, who finished 5th in the Super Lig last season and include Cameroonian great Samuel Eto'o among their ranks, are the first side to formally declare an interest.

“We made an enquiry and are in talks but Arsenal want a lot for Wilshere,” said club president Ali Safak Ozturk.

“It will be a difficult move to pull off.”

Wilshere has also been linked with a move to West Ham this summer but it understood that the Arsenal man is not an immediate priority for Slaven Bilic.
