Josh Kroenke has been promoted to vice-president of Kroenke Sports & Entertainment and KSE UK, the company that owns a majority stake in Arsenal.

Kroenke, son of majority shareholder Stan, had previously served as president of KSE’s NHL franchise Colorado Avalanche and NBA team the Denver Nuggets.

“While the business of sport has transformed in recent years, we are still just getting started,” Kroenke said.

“This new position allows me the opportunity and flexibility to work closer with employees, fans, sponsors and community leaders to strategize and celebrate the power of sports and entertainment.”

KSE UK currently owns a 67.09 per cent stake in Arsenal whilst KSE also owns franchises in the NFL (Los Angeles Rams) and MLS (Colorado Rapids).

The 37-year-old was appointed to the Arsenal board in December 2013 and has taken a particularly close interest in the club in recent months, spending several weeks around the club in January and February.

"We have a saying at Arsenal: victory through harmony,” Kroenke said last month. “That can take a lot of different meanings but for me I think victory through harmony comes through communication.

“I harp on about that across our teams. You’ve got to have open and honest dialogue about the reality of everything we’re in.

“If we’re sugar-coating anything about ourselves, our team or our direction we’re only kidding ourselves and we’ll be worse off in the long run.”
