What Ansu Fati’s father has already said strongly hints at preferred move amid Chelsea and Spurs interest

Chelsea and Tottenham could miss out on Ansu Fati, if comments from the player’s father on his preferred destination are to prove correct.

Barcelona are ready to cash in on the 20-year-old striker, as reported by Standard Sport today, but his £200,000-a-week wages could be a stumbling block to a deal.

Furthemore, Fati would have to be convinced to leave Barcelona having risen through the youth ranks at the Camp Nou.

But, reports out of Spain suggest the player is ready to move on and is keen on a switch to the Premier League.

One club may still be able to stop such a move from happening, however.

Fati’s family moved to Seville during his childhood and his father, Bori Fati, is said to have his heart set on a loan switch back to Andalusia before the transfer deadline.

Speaking in March of this year, Bori outlined his desire for the Spain international to sign for Sevilla.

“I think a lot about Sevilla, about going home,” he told Cope.

Bori Fati’s comments were a big surprise at the time as he pondered a move to Barcelona’s rivals Real Madrid and criticised coach Xavi for rarely naming Fati in his starting XI.

“I wouldn't value an offer from Madrid, because Ansu wouldn't accept it,” he said.

“I can't put Ansu where he doesn't want to. But I will never speak ill of Madrid because they are two very big clubs and you never know what the world is going to bring you. You never know where it is going to take you.”

He added: “At Barcelona they tell me that they have bet a lot on Ansu, they tell me that clearly. When I sat down with [his agent] Jorge Mendes, the first thing he told me was that Ansu wants to stay and will continue playing for Barcelona.

“But I, as a father, thought otherwise, and Ansu doesn't agree with that. What bothers me is how they are treating Ansu for minutes. One minute, two minutes, three minutes, that's what bothers me.”
