Huge support: Sanchez said he wants 'to make all the supporters happy' after signing from Barcelona

Arsenal fans are again believing they can challenge for the title after the club made a statement with the acquisition of Alexis Sanchez.

The Gunners beat Liverpool to the signing of Sanchez last week when the former Barcelona forward put pen to paper on a long-term deal worth around £30million.

But former Reds striker Michael Owen expects Arsene Wenger's side to take a backward step next season, despite making early moves in the transfer window.

While accepting Sanchez is 'a top player', Owen believes Arsenal's closest rivals are strengthening sufficiently and believes Manchester United will return to the top-four shake-up next term.

"The signing of Sanchez has made everyone sit up and take note," the 34-year-old commentator told talkSPORT.

"I really do rate him, he's a top player and it's a big step in the right direction.

"But, in no particular order, my top four for next season would be Chelsea, Manchester City, Manchester United and Liverpool."
