Alexandre Pato to Chelsea: Deal to go through despite late hitch over loan fee

Simon Johnson29 January 2016

Alexandre Pato is still expected to complete his loan move to Stamford Bridge from Corinthians despite an unexpected late delay.

Pato arrived in London yesterday to complete the switch, only for the two clubs to dispute the size of the loan fee.

But the deal for the Brazil international, who will be paid his £30,000-a-week salary in full by Chelsea, is unlikely to fall through. An option to make it a permanent transfer for £12m at the end of the season has been included.

After landing at Heathrow to seal the switch on Wednesday, Pato said he was anxious to get the deal over the line before joining up with his new team-mates.

"I am so happy - Chelsea is my new home," he told Sky Sports News. "Thanks Chelsea for the support and thanks for my fans and my Instagram, Twitter and Facebook followers.

"I need to play. I don't know what to say because I am so happy. I am very anxious. I want to know my new friends, the new players, and the team. I really want to play for Chelsea."

Chelsea are also set to announce the £3.5m arrival of New York Red Bulls centre back Matt Miazga after the 20-year-old underwent a medical last night.
