New Fulham signing Aboubakar Kamara says he was happy to swap the chance to play in Ligue 1 for a move to the Championship.

Kamara has joined from Amiens in a deal worth around £5 million. The 22-year-old forward scored 11 goals last season to help the French side win promotion from Ligue 2.

But Kamara, who has signed a four-year contract at Craven Cottage, says he was happy to leave and join Fulham.

“Nobody pushed me away,” he said. “I decided myself. There is a good thing to do in Fulham. The club is ambitious. I want to play well and score.”

Kamara becomes the sixth summer signing made by Slavisa Jokanovic after Marcelo Djalo, Ibrahima Cisse, Lucas Piazon, Oliver Norwood and Tomas Kalas.

Kamara said: “I knew for a while Fulham were interested, but I did not let it get into my head. I kept my feet on the ground. It is a good city and a good club.”
