Abdul Baba Rahman insists he is ready to make his Chelsea debut against West Brom on Sunday and has revealed his eagerness to work with Jose Mourinho.

Baba Rahman trained with the first team for the first time yesterday following his £17.7m transfer from Bundesliga side Augsburg.

Standard Sport revealed yesterday that the Ghana left back's arrival has put Branislav Ivanovic's position under threat after a poor start to the campaign.

Manager Jose Mourinho is considering putting Baba Rahman straight into the side and moving Cesar Azpilicueta over to right back.

And Baba Rahman said: "I am ready to play and to fight for the club, to give my best. I think competition for places is very important because without it the club wouldn't go further.

"It's a big challenge for me and I'm going to fight hard to win trophies with this club and to achieve its aim.

"I'm looking forward to playing in the squad. Football is not a one-man show, we have to play together.

"He (Mourinho) is one of the best coaches in the world and I'm looking forward to working with him.

"I think he can be funny sometimes, that's what I have seen on TV, but he is a hard working coach and tactical."

Chelsea have picked up just one point from their opening two matches and take on West Brom at the Hawthorns, where they haven't won for four years.
