Football pays its respects to Rocastle

13 April 2012

Football rivalries were forgotten today as players from a number of clubs were united in sadness at the funeral of David "Rocky" Rocastle.

The former England international, who died from cancer last Saturday at the age of 33, was buried after a service at Windsor Parish Church of St John the Baptist.

Pallbearers included former Arsenal team-mates Tony Adams, Ian Wright, Paul Davis, Michael Thomas and Alan Smith.

Current Arsenal and Chelsea players attended, along with Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger, former boss George Graham and Leeds manager David O'Leary, who was a former team-mate. Manchester United's Andy Cole also attended, and sent a red and white floral tribute in the shape of the gates at Highbury. There were also flowers from a number of clubs, including Liverpool, Norwich, Hull and Chelsea.

Rocastle won two League titles at Arsenal and also played for Leeds, Chelsea, Manchester City, Hull and Norwich.
