Flying Frankie rules again

Frankie Dettori got York's three-day Ebor meeting off to a flyer by landing the Daily Telegraph Great Voltigeur Stakes aboard Rule Of Law.

Dettori made every yard of the running aboard the Kingmambo colt, who came home clear of his old rival Let The Lion Roar and was promptly slashed to 3-1 favourite for the St Leger by William Hill.

Earlier, Kieren Fallon followers got a pleasant surprise when First Charter landed thee Weatherbys Insurance Lonsdale Cup.

Sir Michael Stoute's five-year-old drifted out to 7-1 in the face of strong support for Millenary, but First Charter battled on well close home to beat Dancing Bay by a neck.
