Fletcher's dream team

14 April 2012

Carl Fletcher has learned to live with the 'Dream Team' tag since the TV soap became a hit.

The Bournemouth captain has the same name as one of the characters in the programme and is used to all the Mickey-taking.

But the defender, 24, is in his own dream team now Mark Hughes has given him his first Wales call-up.

Fletcher and Cardiff's Paul Parry could win their first caps during tomorrow's friendly with Scotland in Cardiff. He said: 'When I was younger the Dream Team thing was hard to deal with but now I see the funny side and get on with it.'

Meanwhile, Scotland's assistant manager Tommy Burns has challenged his country's rising stars to perform well so Berti Vogts does not need to turn to any foreigners, like Didier Agathe and David Fernandez who will soon qualify for the team having lived in Scotland for five years.

Burns said: 'The challenge is there. They can take this country forward. I still think the Scotland team should be full of Scots.'

Blackburn's Paul Gallagher is set for a debut tomorrow.
