FIFA president Sepp Blatter has backed the NBA’s decision to ban LA Clippers owner Donald Sterling for life after he was found guilty of making racist comments on tape.

The 80-year-old has also been fined £1.5million after American network TMZ broadcast him apparently telling a girlfriend not to bring black people to the team’s games.

His comments led to Clippers players making a silent protest ahead of their most recent game on Sunday, while financial backers have been withdrawing support for the club.

Blatter, who has previously claimed racism in football can be solved with a handshake, tweeted: “I fully support NBA’s decision to ban LA Clippers owner for life after his racist words.”
