Fall and rise of Zara Phillips was one hell of a ride

One moment she was the fall girl, the next Zara Phillips was confirmed in Britain's eventing team for the Olympics.

The Queen's granddaughter took a tumble during horse trials at Rodbaston College, Staffordshire. In typically gutsy fashion, she was soon back in the saddle, competing with two other horses.

Zara, 26, the reigning world champion, will be hoping for better luck in August when she takes her horse — favourite Toytown — to Hong Kong where the Olympic equestrian events are being staged.

Zara was named yesterday in a five-member team and obligingly posed to celebrate, looking somewhat cooler and less flustered.

'It is nice to be selected but we still have a long way to go,' said Zara.

'I am lucky in that Toytown has been to championship events before, so he knows about big occasions and has been consistent. But an Olympic Games really is special. I am delighted for Toytown as he really deserves it.'

Also in the Olympic team are William Fox-Pitt (Ballincoola), Sharon Hunt (Tankers Town), Mary King (Call Again Cavalier) and Lucy Wiegersma (Shaabrak).
