Expect a shock, says Hill

13 April 2012

Dagenham and Redbridge manager Garry Hill today insisted his side will not be there only to make up the numbers against Charlton on Saturday.

On paper, the Conference part-timers have no chance. But Hill, whose side's last outing was a 3-1 defeat at Dover on Boxing Day, gave short shrift to suggestions they will be making the short journey through the Blackwall Tunnel simply to enjoy the atmosphere.

"I would never tell my players to just go out and enjoy it," he said. "We want to get a result.

"I'm very confident in the players I've got and I can guarantee that those picked will go out there, work hard and give a good account of themselves. I can't really ask for much more than that.

"Most of them are non-League players without much experience of the top flight but they are still very good.

"There's no pressure on us, Charlton have it all on them. It's important that we don't concede an early goal, and then you never know what will happen.

"There is a Cup shock every year. Someone has to have an upset, so why not Charlton at The Valley."
