Els misses Chrysler date due to finger injury blow

14 April 2012

Ernie Els has withdrawn from the Chrysler Championship in Florida, which starts tomorrow, because of a finger injury.

The South African will instead focus his attentions on the Tour Championship next week at the East Lake Country Club in Atlanta.

Els said: "I've reluctantly had to withdraw from this week's Chrysler Championship in Florida, the penultimate money-counting event on the PGA Tour's 2004 schedule.

"This is not the sort of decision I ever take lightly but I've got no choice, unfortunately. I've injured a finger on my left hand. I can't even grip the club properly, let alone hit shots."
