Eagles triumph once again

Ayr Scottish Eagles followed up their shock Challenge Cup final triumph over Belfast Giants with a 5-3 win over the Superleague champions at the Odyssey Arena.

Eagles, who stunned Giants 5-0 in the final last week, raced into a 2-0 lead through Mike Jickling and Jonathan Weaver inside 121 seconds. But in a bad-tempered clash, Jason Ruff (Belfast) and Shawn Byram (Ayr) were ejected in the eighth minute for roughing.
