Duo return as Clive says goodbye to fans

Charlton will field a strong team for Saturday's benefit match for Clive Mendonca against Dutch side NEC Nijmegen.

Defenders Mark Fish, who has recovered from back problem, and Gary Rowett, who suffered a dead leg last week, are both in contention for starting places.

But Chris Powell, Swedish striker Matthias Svensson and influential midfielder Claus Jensen will all miss out after failing to recover from injuries.

Manager Alan Curbishley will also be without youngsters Osei Sankofa and Lloyd Sam, who have been impressive in pre-season.

But Mendonca, who was forced to retire last year through injury, is likely to turn out for the last time in a Charlton shirt.

He said: "It's going to be great to go back to the Valley and see everybody again and it should be a really entertaining game. There is no way I could manage 90 minutes, and I know Alan wants to put out a strong team, but hopefully there will be time for me to get out on the pitch again at some stage.

"The last 10 minutes or so would be ideal - and it would be incredible if I could say farewell with a goal."
