Diskin handed injury blow

12 April 2012

Leeds hooker Matt Diskin could be out for up to six weeks after fracturing a bone in his hand.

The Great Britain international suffered the injury in Friday's 22-10 engage Super League win over leaders St Helens at Knowsley Road.

Rhinos head of physiotherapy Meirion Jones said: "Matt had a scan on Saturday morning which confirmed the fracture to the third metacarpal."

He added: "However, having met with the specialist the scan also revealed that the fracture was not displaced, which means that the bone had not moved apart after the impact and initial fracture.

"Thankfully, this means Matt does not need surgery and should speed the recovery time."

Rhinos second rower Ian Kirke will be available for Thursday's trip to Wigan despite breaking his nose in Friday's game.
