Portuguese schemer Deco claims he has struck a deal with Chelsea

Portugal star Deco has claimed he will join Chelsea after Euro 2004.

The 26-year-old Brazilian-born midfielder said contract talks are at an advanced stage and he will be ready to leave his current club Porto after the tournament.

Deco, who yesterday helped Portugal defeat Russia 2-0 to keep alive their chances of qualifying from Group A, says he will follow manager Jose Mourinho and full-back Paulo Ferreira in making the switch from the European champions to Stamford Bridge.

"I have practically sorted out everything with the clubs," he told Portuguese radio station TSF.

"Now what I have to do is the medical tests and sign the contract with Chelsea. This will only happen after Euro 2004.

"My wish is to go to a club that gives me the conditions that FC Porto has given me over these years."
