Davids to return against Celtic
Edgar Davids is ready to make a Champions League comeback for Juventus against Celtic tonight.
The Dutch midfielder is available again, having completed a four-month ban after testing positive for nandrolone.
He said: ?I would like to think I am in good physical condition because I have trained with my team-mates and things have gone well.
?It is true that there may be a danger in playing me, because I have not played for four months, but I really want to show what I am capable of.?
Marcello Lippi must decide whether to change a side which have won their first three Serie A matches to accommodate Davids but the coach hinted the Dutchman would be involved.
?He is one of the best midfielders in the world,? Lippi said. ?He will not be 100 per cent but in three or four matches we will see the old Davids.?
Davids is considering sueing the Italian Olympic Committee and the Italian Football Association following his four-month ban for failing a drugs test.
His suspension was reduced from eight to four months on appeal but he said: ?I am considering a civil case because my case was not looked at objectively and independently.
?I am happy that I can play again but I dislike the idea that people will still think I may have been involved in doping. I am innocent.?
Meanwhile, Celtic manager Martin O?Neill today admitted losing Lubo Moravcik was a huge blow. The Scottish champions arrived in Turin yesterday without the Slovakian, who injured an ankle during Saturday?s 4-0 victory at Dundee.
O?Neill was hoping Moravcik would be fit to play in Italy but the problem got worse. Bulgarian Stilian Petrov will probably take his place for tonight?s clash in the Stadio delle Alpi.
