Curbs closing in on Sorondo deal

14 April 2012

Charlton will check on Gonzalo Sorondo's work permit status before completing the signing the Uruguayan defender.

Manager Alan Curbishley is close to a loan deal with Inter Milan but will make sure all the paperwork has been completed first.

Sorondo was on loan at Crystal Palace last season and would be Charlton's second signing of the summer after Darren Bent joined from Ipswich for £3 million.

Curbishley wants to shake-up his squad by bringing five new players.

He is chasing Blackburn's England under-21 striker Jon Stead and has been linked with Newcastle midfielder Darren Ambrose.
