Sean Morris to leave job as PCA chief

End of an era: players’ union chief Sean Morris is moving on
10 April 2012

Union chief Sean Morris is to step down as chief executive of the Professional Cricketers Association.

Morris, who succeeded Richard Bevan 18 months ago, distinguished himself with his handling of England players' situation following the Mumbai terrorist attacks last year.

He is leaving to pursue other opportunities within sport. Worcestershire captain Vikram Solanki, the PCA chairman, will take a more active role in the organisation until a new chief executive is appointed.

The PCA have thanked Morris for guiding them "through possibly the most turbulent period in the game's history" - which has included the continued and rapid global expansion of the Twenty20 game - and delivering a 35% increase in commercial income.

Morris said: "I would like to place on record my thanks to all of the players for the support they have given me over the last 18 months.

"We've certainly been through some interesting times together and I wish them well in the future.

"Thanks also to the leading stakeholders in the game who I have had the pleasure of working with.

"I hope the PCA will continue to cement close relationships with them which will certainly benefit the game as a whole."
