Court date for manager Law

13 April 2012

Nicky Law, the Chesterfield manager, is to appear in court after an alleged incident during a match against Macclesfield.

Law, 40, has been charged with using threatening behaviour and will appear at Macclesfield Magistrates' court.

Inspector Linda Clancy of Cheshire Police said: "A man in his forties has been summoned to appear before magistrates for a public order offence."

The incident is the latest in a string of controversies haunting the Third Division leaders.

Chesterfield will find out today whether the Football League are to deduct nine points and fine them £20,000. The punishment was handed to the club after a three-day hearing relating to charges of misconduct.

The deduction would drop Chesterfield to third and and improve fourth-placed Leyton Orient's chances of automatic promotion.
