Chambers might try gridiron

Dwain Chambers could try to build a career in American football if, as expected, is he is banned from athletics.

The European 100metres champion tested positive for the steroid THG in August but has always denied knowingly taking drugs. However, he is likely to receive a two-year ban at a UK Athletics disciplinary hearing in February.

If that happens, his agent, Jonathan Barnett, suggested the sprinter would consider a new career and that his speed and strength could make him a success in the NFL.

"All Dwain is thinking about is the hearing and we're putting all our energy into that," Barnett said.

"He feels he's been harshly dealt with and will conduct a robust defence. If he is banned, he will need to earn a living and American football is one of many things he might be able to turn his hand to."
