Caldwell: There's no way injuries can stop Scots

14 April 2012

Gary Caldwell is confident Scotland can overcome their injury problems to beat Norway at Hampden Park tomorrow.

Manager Berti Vogts has seen his squad laid low by injuries, with Hearts defender Steven Pressley the latest to join the casualty list after failing to recover from a virus.

Hibernian defender Caldwell admits being without the partnership of club-mates Pressley and Andy Webster in the centre of defence is a blow, but believes there is still enough quality in the squad to see Scotland through tomorrow's Group Five qualifier and next Wednesday's tie in Moldova.

He said: "It's going to be a big loss. Steven's been a huge part of the team for the last few games.

"But we've got plenty of men who can step in and do the job.

"It is quite difficult. Elvis [Pressley] and Andy Webster have a good partnership and know each other well.

"We'll be ready. Once you're playing for Scotland it doesn't really matter who you're playing with, you get on with it and get the job done. We always seem to do well when our backs are against the wall."
