Joshua defeated World No3 Alexander Povetkin with a seventh round knockout to retain his WBA, IBF and WBO world heavyweight titles.

Once again attention turned to a potential unification fight between the winner of December’s bout between Wilder and Tyson Fury, which will contest the WBC belt – the one world heavyweight title Joshua is yet to win.

And speaking to Sky Sports after the fight, Joshua was clear in regards to who wants next.

"May the champion bring himself here and have a good old fashioned dust-up.

"All I want to fight is serious challengers. If Dillian [Whyte] wants to fight here he is also more than welcome."

Pushed on who his favoured opponent would be, he replied: "My number one would be Wilder, let's not talk about a number two or three."

Promote Eddie Hearn added: "Joshua's a real world champion, we will go away now and try and make a fight with [Deontay] Wilder.

"Tonight was about getting that big banana skin of Alexander Povetkin out the way.

"If it's not Deontay Wilder then it will be [Dillian] Whyte here on April 13."
