Book sales hit Rich seam

13 April 2012

The book which details Rich Beem's rookie season on the US tour has become an instant best-seller following his thrilling victory over Tiger Woods on Sunday.

Before the win in the United States PGA championship the book, "Bud, Sweat and Tees: A Walk on the Wild Side on the PGA Tour", was listed at 628th in the Amazon.com list. Afterwards it leapt to seventh.

The 31-year-old American joked last week that after co-operating with the author he did not even receive a copy. "I didn't even get a free book. I didn't get paid. He says he's going to take me to dinner, but I don't think so," Beem said.

Beem, winner of his last two tournaments, now tries to make it three in the NEC world championship in Seattle - the city in which he gave up golf and sold mobile phones and car stereos for a year seven years ago.

He made seven dollars an hour, plus commission. On Sunday he won US$990,000 and moved fourth on the US tour money list with US$2.6million.
