Blues swoop for Hunt

12 April 2012

Birmingham have completed the loan signing of Bolton defender Nicky Hunt on a one-month emergency deal.

The 25-year-old will bring welcome relief for boss Alex McLeish, who has been concerned about his options at right-back after injuries to Stuart Parnaby and Stephen Kelly.

And McLeish, who is keen to stress his faith in 19-year-old full-back Jared Wilson, is delighted to have added Hunt to the squad, telling the club's official website: "Nicky is a player who has massive Premier League experience. He was almost an ever-present under Sam Allardyce but hasn't figured quite as much under Gary Megson."

He added: "We need experienced players in defensive areas and Nicky comes into that category. His presence should bring a bit of confidence to the team and he has good athleticism going forward."
