Ben Foster joins Birmingham City in £6m move

Ben Foster today joined Birmingham City from Manchester United for an undisclosed fee, thought to be £6m.

Foster has agreed a three-year contract and will hope to regain his England place after missing out on the World Cup squad following a season in which he fell out of favour at Old Trafford.

Alex McLeish was looking to strengthen his goalkeeping options having had Joe Hart, selected in Fabio Capello's finals squad, on loan from Manchester City this season.

However, with that arrangement unlikely to be repeated in the coming campaign, the Birmingham boss has moved to find a replacement.
