Becks swearing for Real

13 April 2012

David Beckham has been turning the air blue with Spanish expletives at Real Madrid's pre-season training camp.

Beckham is sharing a chalet with five other Madrid players at the squad's base in Kunming, China, including Steve McManaman. And the quintet have been trying to teach the former Manchester United midfielder a few choice words of the Spanish language, which he admits is proving tough to learn.

Although he has developed the art of swearing in Spanish, Beckham's needs to do more work before he can fluently converse with his new team-mates on the pitch.

Beckham said: "My team-mates are all trying to help me learn the language and the other day Roberto Carlos was teaching me a few words in the massage room. I'm learning bit by bit, but for the moment all I know in Spanish are swear words and 'gracias', 'muchas gracias' and 'hola'."

Nevertheless, Beckham seems to be adapting well to life at his new club.

"They are great players and I feel very happy among them. I have come to a great team that has some great players," he said.

Beckham brushed aside a question about his supposedly strained relationship with United manager Sir Alex Ferguson. He said: "I have happy memories of my time at United but now I am a Real Madrid player. They're all I'm thinking about.

"This is different to the Premiership and it's a great opportunity because we are talking about one of the best leagues in the world."
