Bayern striker in clear-out call

13 April 2012

Bayern Munich striker Giovane Elber has said he may leave the club if they beat Valencia in the Champions League Final in Milan tonight, and believes the Germans should have a major clear-out.

The 28-year-old Brazilian, who has won three Bundesliga titles in his four-year spell in Munich, missed out on the Champions League when Manchester United beat them in the final in 1999. They were eliminated by Real Madrid in last year's semi-finals.

"After we win the Champions League all players should be sold," Elber said. "There is nothing more you can win with these guys. I am seriously thinking about leaving the club. My wife Cynthia is not feeling happy any more in Munich. She has been saying for a while now that she wishes to return to Brazil."

Bayern are seeking to complete a treble this season, having already won the Bundesliga and League Cup. They knocked out European champions Real Madrid with relative ease in the semi-finals.

The Germans will be without injured midfielder Jens Jeremies, meaning England Under-21 star Owen Hargreaves, is likely to play.

For Valencia, former Chelsea midfielder Didier Deschamps hopes to become the first player to win the European Cup with three different clubs. His previous successes were with Marseille in 1993 and Juventus (1996).

Valencia's coach Hector Cuper, meanwhile, may quit after their season finishes to take over at Inter Milan, according to reports in today's Spanish press.
