Eleven-time Paralympic champion Dame Tanni Grey-Thompson has resigned from the board of the 2017 Athletics World Championships in London.

Grey-Thompson is the fourth member of the board to leave in recent weeks.

Managing director Sally Bolton quit last month citing personal reasons and she followed Heather Hancock and Martin Stewart, who had stepped down after losing a power struggle with UK Athletics chairman Ed Warner and chief executive Niels de Vos.

At the Sports Industry Breakfast Club in London today, Grey‑Thompson revealed she too had resigned.

Next year’s event will double up as the World Championships for Para Athletes but Grey-Thompson complained her position on the board seemed “a bit too tokenistic” and added that “athletics in Britain has a lot of problems”.
