Arsenal fear they have lost Campbell

This is the moment when Rivaldo confirmed his reputation as the best player in the world. It may also have been the moment which persuaded Sol Campbell to join Barcelona.

This stunning strike by the Brazilian sealed a brilliant hat-trick and gave the Catalan club a 3-2 win over Valencia to secure their place in the Champions League.

Had the match finished level then it would have been Valencia who went into Europe's elite competition next season.

But, with two minutes left, Frank de Boer chipped the ball to Rivaldo on the edge of the box. He took the ball on his chest, knocked it up and fired in a superb bicycle kick.

Now Arsenal must wait to learn whether they have lost out to Barcelona in the race to sign Campbell.

The England defender, who watched last night's match, wants to play Champions League football and the Spanish club will offer a bigger wage packet than Arsenal.

Meanwhile, Barcelona are poised to sell Emmanuel Petit to Chelsea for £6 million, as Standard Sport reported on 29 May. He was a substitute against Valencia.
