Alexis Sanchez and Manchester United have shaken up the entire transfer system, says Ian Wright

Former Arsenal star Ian Wright believes Alexis Sanchez has "completely shaken up" the transfer system after he sealed a ground-breaking move to Manchester United on Monday.

The 29-year-old Chile international signed a four-and-a-half year contract with United after refusing to sign an extension at Arsenal, who reluctantly let the playmaker go.

The deal between the two clubs was a straight swap, which saw Henrikh Mkhiaryan move in the opposite direction.

And Arsenal legend Wright believes this transfer deal marks the dawn of a new era.

“In years to come we will look back on his transfer to Manchester United as a ground-breaker – one I feel will become the norm,” he wrote in his column for The Sun.

“Namely that more and more world-class stars will run down their contracts and move for nothing, or, at best, a fraction of their real worth in the closing months of their deals.

“We all know players hold all the power these days and it makes total financial sense to them – and the buying club.”

Wright added: "Deals like [Neymar's] will be seen less and less over the years, while Sanchez-type transfers will increase.

“Mark my words, there will be a complete shake-up of the transfer system as we know it.

“Alexis is merely the tip of the iceberg. This is the dawn of a whole new age.”

The new United star is set to triple his salary at Old Trafford, jumping ahead of current top earners Paul Pogba, Romelu Lukaku and Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
